Joey's Mom

This is my first blog ever.  On April 18th, 2015,  I lost my best friend Joey, my Basset Hound who was 12 1/2 years old to cancer and arthritis.  He was a great Basset, though when he was very young he was a handful, so in 2003 my husband and I would go to Basset Breakfast in Huntington Beach to find out if other Bassets were a handful, and we found out that they were.  We started taking Joey to Crossroads in Stanton and he met his wife of 3 years named Angie.  They were very happy together. …See More

Fred has passed away.

Fred has had increased seizure over the weekend, it also took him much longer to be normal after each seizure. Yesterday, he started bleeding bad and we couldn't stop the bleeding. So we rushed him to the emergency clinic. The vet informed us that he had tumor growth by the penis blood vessel that burst, they would have to remove the growth. We said ok, and was heading home to pick him up after the surgery, when the vet called to let us know that he just had another major seizure on the…

I am so thrilled that Toulouse was adopted. I check on the grey faced kids to see how things are coming along. Its wonderful when any kid gets adopted, but for me its extra special for a grey faced one.

Artful Hounds Renee Bane of BHRSC has a creative and fun way to display your love of bassets. Check out her website for yard or wall art, basset hound clocks and leashes.

Go to: and see all the Basset Hounds looking for forever homes; adoption procedures; volunteering, fostering and everything Basset Hound.

Here's a great web site if you're looking for help when a hound has crossed the rainbow bridge. I've purchased items from them (a marker for my sweet Penny) and they were fantastic in delivering the order and sent a condolence card.

Here's a great site for artwork and all things hounds. They've supported BHRSC with cards and stickers. I can't say enough positive things about this organization.

Looking for some unusual Basset Hound goodies? Need a BH checkbook cover or floor mats. Check out this site:

Faces of Dog
Faces of Dog is a log of Susan Rennie's photographic galleries devoted to the world of dogs. To see a gallery click on the image. To contact Susan for information about a photograph, email her at

Volunteer Opportunities

The hounds need you to volunteer asap:

Want to help homeless hounds find their way to forever homes? BHRSC is looking for transport volunteers to bail hounds out of shelters and also transport them to events for their moment in the spotlight. The hours are flexible, you can volunteer as you are available, and we have help needed in all areas so you don't have to travel far from home!

Just click here and you're on your way

SPAM Users on this site

Maybe you've noticed a problem with SPAM on this site lately. I've been diligently trying to remove individuals that use this site to promote their business or illegal activity.

It's become increasingly difficult to keep unauthorized individuals off - so I've found it necessary for future members to apply for access.

My apologies for any delay in membership - but I hope you will understand the need to "keep it clean".
Thank you,
